Locations

You might already have a special spot in mind - a beach you love, a place that feels like home, or somewhere with meaning for your family.
If not, don’t worry! I’ve put together a list of beautiful Northern Beaches locations to choose from.

We’re truly spoilt here - from sparkling ocean backdrops and golden sand dunes to rocky headlands for the kids to explore, peaceful lakes, and serene lagoons. Each spot offers its own unique charm and a lovely mix of scenery for your session.

North Curl Curl Beach (sunset)

  • Mixture of rocks, sand dunes and ocean as a backdrop

  • Sheltered and usually calm surf conditions

North Curl Curl Beach (sunrise)

  • Beautiful rocky headland, very few buildings right up the end, very natural

  • Usually calm conditions right up the North end so we can get in the water if you’d like

Long Reef Beach (Sunset)

  • I like to shoot at the South end of Longy, on Dee Why Lagoon

  • On a clear day the sun sets over the lagoon

  • Mixture of lagoon and grassy sand dunes as a backdrop

  • Car park is close to where the session will take place making it convenient for those with little ones or who can’t walk too far

Turimetta Beach (sunset)

  • Beautiful natural landscape

  • Least busy beach in the area

  • Mixture of grassy sand dunes, rocks and ocean as a backdrop

  • Large set of stairs to get down and I like to move around a bit from the rocks to the sand so please keep this in mind if you have little ones that need to be carried

Turimetta Beach (sunrise)

  • Stunning sunrises on a clear day

  • Natural landscape and the least busy beach in the area

  • Decent set of stairs to get down and I like to move around a bit from the rocks to the sand so please keep this in mind if you have little ones that need to be carried (feel free to bring a carrier!) or those less mobile

Freshwater Beach (Sunrise)

  • Mixture of rocky headland and sandy shots

  • Nice flat beach

  • Calm surf conditions so easy for little ones to have a splash

Freshwater Beach (Sunset)

  • Calm surf conditions so easy for little ones to have a splash

  • Keep in mind, weekends in summer can be too busy here especially when the weather is good.

South Mona Vale Beach (Sunrise)

  • Expansive, quiet section of beach with unique rocky headland

  • Dog-friendly

Red Hill Reserve

  • Beacon Hill

  • Red/pink/white rocks and sand surrounded by bushland

  • 10-15 minute walk on a cleared track from the road

Fairlight Beach + The Boatshed

  • Lots of great spots at the Boatshed

  • Short 5 minute walk from here to Fairlight Beach and rockpool where we can walk between

Jamieson Park on Narrabeen Lake (sunset)

  • A great alternative to beachy photos

  • Mixture of bushland and lake as a backdrop

  • Beautiful sunsets over the lake

  • Lots of spots to walk around and explore

Dee Why Rockpools (sunrise)

  • Natural rockpools to explore plus the swimming pools which are good fun and you can end the session with a swim!

  • Cafes across the road so you could also grab a coffee or ice cream at the end too

Long Reef Beach (Sunrise)

  • I like to shoot at the South end of Longy, on Dee Why Lagoon

  • On a clear day the sun sets over the lagoon

  • Mixture of lagoon, grassy sand dunes and the ocean as a backdrop

  • Car park is close to where the session will take place making it convenient for those with little ones or who can’t walk too far

North Narrabeen (sunset)

  • Grassy sand dunes

  • Lagoon

  • Car park is close by

  • Once sun sets we will get photos with the ocean as a backdrop

Long Reef Headland

  • Rocks, beach, lots of greenery and vegetation on a big hill on the side of the headland

  • Not too busy

  • A little bit of walking involved, great for family sessions with kids aged 2+ or maternity sessions

  • Great as an β€œadventure session” for kids who like to move around a lot

Collins Beach (sunset)

  • West-facing so sun sets over water

  • Beautiful landscape, in the national park

  • I like clients to get in the water here as it really adds to the photos!

  • Sessions here are generally quicker as it’s very bright to begin with so we start closer to sunset

Fairy Bower Rock Pool (Sunrise)

Snappermans Beach Reserve (sunset - weekends & school holidays only)

  • The sun sets over Pittwater. On a clear day it is very bright so sometimes sessions here run for just 40 mins but the light is breathtaking!

  • Flat grassy area, small beach, easy for kids to have a splash if they want

  • Leave extra time as it can get busy on weekends and can sometimes be tricky to get a car spot
